Strengthening Legal and Policy Frameworks at the European Union Level

Strengthening Legal and Policy Frameworks at the European Union Level

This critical engagement in Brussels draws from the acknowledgement and evidence of well-documented corporate human rights abuses in the supply chains of various multinational corporations as well as the fact that the EU is the world’s largest single Market. During this engagement, UCCA presented a position paper on the European CS3D and forced labour where it advocated that the EU CS3D law should pay attention to meaningful and credible engagement with affected and potentially affected workers and communities, as well as the creation of robust complaint mechanisms. Concerning forced labour regulation, it was advocated that companies must map and disclose their supply chains as well as put frameworks in place to ensure access to remedies for workers. Through these engagements, UCCA remains committed to participating in, contributing to, and shaping legal and policy discussions around enhancing Corporate Accountability.
