Training on Free Prior and Informed Consent in Teso/Karamoja Region and Tooro – Rwenzori
The training in Teso Karamoja region was pertinent to contextualize the role of FPIC in the community members’ experiences with the Geophysical Airborne Survey and Geological Mapping of the region. Utilizing the action specific approach and the tools gained during the training, the community members, the UCCA secretariat team and members were able to address the issues on; inadequate access to information before, during and after such initiatives such as the Geophysical Airborne Survey and Geological Mapping and unclear boundaries. The training on FPIC in Tooro/ Rwenzori Region contextualized the role of FPIC in community members’ experiences with the African Development Bank funded project. The training provided tools for communities to deal with aspects related to lack of access to information and failure to engage communities in project designs.
