UCCA 2020 General Membership Meeting and Capacity Building
Between February 18 to 21 2020, the Uganda Consortium on Corporate Accountability (UCCA) met for their Bi-Annual General Meeting at Lakeside Escape Resort, Mukono. On agenda was a review of the half year work plan, Strategic realignment of activities, Thematic Cluster introduction, Orientation and development of work plan. Two major capacity building trainings were also part of the 3 day retreat. Associate Professor Christopher Mbazira took the membership through Monitoring Documentation and Reporting and Ms. Phiona Nampungu and Mr. John Mwebe from Bank Information Centre and International Accountability Project respectively, introduced the membership to Using International Financial Institutions Accountability Mechanisms to access remedy for corporate abuses arising out IFI’s funded development and investment projects. The membership discussion around the thematic clusters agreed to 4 major clusters including; Land Natural Resources and Environment, Trade, Labour and Investment, Tax & Human Rights (Tax Justice) and Social Services & Accountability. It was agreed that Gender and Equality concerns be incorporated in all thematic cluster discussions and plans for action.
